Honoring International Day of Peace & the citizens’ Declaration of Peace
A silent, reflective walk for peace – in our hearts, in our community, in our nation, in Iraq and in the world. If weather permits, a war memorial honoring Iraqi civilians and Coalition forces who have died will be on display at Mission Hill Plaza.
Who: People of all beliefs, cultures and ages who wish to strengthen inner peace and contribute to creating a more peaceful world.
Why: In this time of war, conflict and division, we say to our nation's leaders that war is not the answer. The way to peace is through cultivating peace in our own hearts, in our actions, and in the world.
Where: Gather at the fountain at Mission Plaza, near Holy Cross Church.
Join us in silent solidarity for peace. After a short welcome and time of reflection, we’ll walk together for about an hour...past the town clock, along the river, through downtown...ending with a brief ceremony at Mission Plaza. No slogan signs please, but kindred groups are encouraged to identify themselves. Bring a flower to carry if you like. Dress in black or white if possible (not required). Remember water, hat, sunscreen.
