From: "Peter Keyes" <petergkeyes [at] hotmail.com> T Hello California Marijuana Party, Drug Policy Forum of California, and Americans for Safe Access to Medical Marijuana Listesrv Recipients, Steve Kubby is in court on Wednesday. The National Compassionate Coalition meets that night in Sacramento. And Cannabis at the Capitol, our annual Medical Marijuana Rally, is fully booked. Our lineup of speakers and musical entertainment is first rate. This is the State Capitol's premier medicinal cannabis festival. ************************************************************************************************************************************************* Cancer patient Steve Kubby will be in court on Wednesday, February 15th, at 1:00pm, at the Placer County Superior Courthouse, 2775 Richardson Drive, in Auburn, California. Steve has an unusually rare form of adrenal cancer. Medical marijuana has kept him alive longer than any other adrenal cancer patient in history. However, he has been given only Marinol in jail. Steve has reportedly been coerced into signing a waiver that absolves Placer County of any legal responsibility in case he dies while in custody. This alleged document has not been released to the public, and its validity is certainly questionable, considering that it was signed under duress. Steve's prosecuting attorney, Chris Cattran, has made a habit of ignoring Steve's critical medical condition. On January 31, 2006, he stated that he had no idea whether or not Steve had cancer. When asked about Steve's right to use life-saving medicine while incarcerated, Cattran laughed. Cattran stated on Jan. 31st that he does not consider Steve Kubby to be a danger to society. However, Cattran is still actively seeking to increase the length of Steve's sentence. Despite the intense media interest, Cattran seems to think that there is not significant support for Steve Kubby. Cattran claimed that his office has not received very many calls on the subject. Chris Cattran can be reached at: (530) 889-7000. Anybody can put money on Steve's books for commissary & health items. These donations must be in the form of US postal money orders. No letters may accompany the money orders. Letters of support may be sent to the same address. MOs should be made out to Steve Kubby.
