Teach-in and Other Events in Leadup to Roadtrip for Relief
The Common Ground Bay Area Caravan to New Orleans is preparing for its November 16th send-off. Thirty people have committed to volunteering to go on the Roadtrip for Relief to rebuild the 9th Ward in Louisiana. A number of events are taking place around the Bay Area to analyze what happened during and after Hurricane Katrina, and to prepare for a more just future. Sunday, November 13th will be the final meeting for volunteers who are interested in participating in any way in the Bay Area caravan to New Orleans. The meeting will be followed by an anti-racist training. Organizers request that people who plan to attend RSVP.
On Tuesday, November 15th, there will be a Hurricane Katrina Teach-in, entitled "Rebuilding on a New Foundation of Justice," from 12pm to 10pm in the Student Union at San Francisco State University. Malik Rahim and Curtis Mohammed will be keynote speakers at the 7pm event.
On Wednesday, November 16th, a Roadtrip Send-Off Event will be held at Studio Z in San Francisco. There will be music, dancing, a silent auction, and guest of honor Malik Rahim. More details about these events
