San Francisco | Environment & Forest DefenseCritical Mass 13th Anniversary
A large crowd of cyclists converged in the streets of San Francisco for the 13th anniversary of Critical Mass on Friday. Several confrontations between drivers and cyclists occurred, but consisted mostly of arguing over right-of-way. One pedestrian on Market Street shouted, "You're blocking traffic," to which a cyclist replied, "We are traffic!" ![]() dsc02047.jpg

As evidenced by his waste of space commentary on Indybay. Let us know when you'll get the courage and the knowledge to ebgage in a coherent debate without running from facts. Until you can support your arguments/assertions, you'll be nothing more than a childish right-wing squaker like mindless idiots listen to on Fox News and AM radio everyday.

Events like Critical Mass have raised awareness for important issues such as bicycling safety and sustainable alternatives to gas consumption (which contributes to global warming). According to statistics on the bicycle.sfgov.org site, in the year after installation of bike lanes on Valencia street, total collisions, fatal and injury collisions dropped and bicycle usage increased to 144%. Other streets such as Dolores, Guerrero, Mission and S. Van Ness have also witnessed an increase in safety, which can translates into lives being saved.
The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District is considering charging a $1 toll to all bicyclists and pedestrians who cross the Bridge. If you are concerned about this, please contact the SF Bicycle Coalition. |
