People Power Can End the War Collective Holds Sept. 23rd Direct Action
The People Power Can End the War Collective called for a September 23rd demonstration. Over 200 youth, people of color, military families, and veterans rallied at the Chevron Gas Station at Telegraph and Grave Aves. in Oakland, then marched to the Armed Forces Recruiting Center on Broadway. The marchers re-decorated the Recruitment Center to declare it “Shut Down By People Power” and painted a graveyard in the street. Photos: 1 | 2 | 3 | Report
Organizers said, "This action supports people power campaigns that are building to stop the Iraq war and occupation, and policies of empire behind it. We're working to uproot the system behind the war, to replace racism and poverty with economic and racial justice!"
