San Francisco | LGBTI / QueerPROTEST during SF Pride Parade
Even within the commercialized SF Pride Parade, you can raise issues. Walk with ACLU, Green Party, NOCIRC, et alii; + more info Where's the protest
in SF's 2005 Pride parade? Tho most of this year's parade seems glitzy, even corporate, a few progressive groups will march. A few are listed below, by contingent number; with approximate assembly points. [Warning: SUN can't vouch for the accuracy of this list. Things may change at the last minute. For official info, please visit http://www.sfpride.org/parade/ Don't expect the assembly points to be well-marked, nor easy to find. Assemble well before step-off time. ........ If you plan to use nakity as a means of political protest, wait until your contingent is already marching on Market Street. ( and, since you'll be moving while stripping, choose a temporary coverup which is easy to get in and out of -- like a loose robe, NOT tight pants -- and remember to wear a backpack which can hold your clothes...) .................. GROUPS in the 2005 parade include: 034 Immigration Equality (assemble on Spear, between Mission & Howard?) 066 Equality California ( on Spear, between Howard & Folsom?) 071 Unitarian-Universalist Church of Berkeley ( on Spear, between Howard & Folsom?) 075 NOCIRC [against genital mutilation of infants] (where??) 157 Pride at Work, AFL-CIO ( on Beale, near Folsom??) 180 SF GREEN PARTY (near ACLU) 181 ACLU (on Beale, between Folsom & Harrison?) [Note to each reader: If you think more groups should be on this progressive list, please add your comment. Please list the contingent number, and the assembly point, if you can.] ...........................
