Sacramento Los Angeles State Capitol Pershing Square (South Steps) (Corner of Olive & 6th Streets) 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Rally program starts at 4:30 with groups arriving at 3:00) Join CTA and other groups concerned about California's future for demonstrations against the governor's so-called "reforms." Rallies will be held on May 25 in Sacramento (http://www.cta.org/Features/StateBudgetCrisis/05/ActionDay_Sacramento.htm) and Los Angeles (http://www.cta.org/Features/StateBudgetCrisis/05/ActionDay_LosAngeles.htm), and are expected to generate thousands of supporters. This broad coalition -- the Alliance for a Better California (http://www.cta.org/Features/StateBudgetCrisis/05/Events/ABC.htm)-- unites to protect our state, while the governor continues to raise more special interest contributions than any governor in state history. We don't need to waste $70 million on a special election that no one wants with initiatives that no one supports. We need real reforms that will move California forward, rather than the governor's broken promises and short-sighted proposals that will further damage California public schools. What would $70 million buy? Click here to find out: http://www.cta.org/Features/StateBudgetCrisis/05/ActionDay_70million.htm Help send a messge to the governor that the "special interests" he keeps referring to are thousands of ordinary citizens and workers concerned about public school children, hospital patients, and overall public safety. |
