San Francisco | Indymedia4/3 in SF: rally against Comcast and media consolidation
4/3 at 3rd and Howard in SF at 2pm
mail.riseup.net
Dear indymedia folks,
CWA is the lead sponsor of this rally (flyer attached), in alliance with Media Alliance, Global Exchange and a growing list of community groups. I think it is very much in your vein of fighting corporate media. In a nutshell: the tradegroup for the cable TV industry is holding its annual convention in San Francisco, and Comcast is the prime sponsor. Our slogan will be "COMCAST DOESN'T CARE" (about workers, communities, or customers). If you have lists that you can put this out on, or send a reminder closer to the actual date. This is our community's big change to protest the national cable industry -- they may never come back to SF again! Hope to hear from you soon. In solidarity, Josh Sperry Organizer, CWA Local 9423 2015 Naglee Ave San Jose, CA 95128 (408) 278-9446 The event is also seeking co-sponsors

I just don't get why you say there is a monopoly. Have you not heard of DirecTV or Dish Network? They are competition to cable, and the telcos are getting in on the TV act too!
You can get DSL from lots of different providers, and Comcast is definitely not the only way to get phone. Why don't you just switch to carriers that you prefer?! |
