We need hundreds of thousands of people like Gay Shame, both gay and straight, participating in the gay parade with workingclass politics, promoting housing, not war, healthcare not war, schools not prisons or police, and most importantly, opposing both the Democrats and Republicans, who use the gay parade to promote their worthless candidates who can only guarantee poverty to the entire workingclass, both gay and straight.

The parade is now mostly a hustle for charity rackets and Democratic Party politicians. The people watching it have correspondingly low level of consciousness and are offended if someone chants something very reasonable like money for healthcare, not for war, when observing the pathetic penny-tossing to the charity racket contingents. These pennies cannot possibly provide adequate healthcare; we need a national healthcare system funded by our tax dollars, not war.

There really is no point to having an obviously political parade, like the gay parade, if it does not raise people's political consciousness. The parade is not a movie; it is real life concerned with real issues, which in many countries, and in many places in the US, including the Bay Area, people put their lives on the line when they come out as gay. Gay rights can only be guaranteed by economic security of the workingclass, both gay and straight.

i witnessed the entire incident. it happened right infront of me. members of gay shame were completely peacefully marching infront of gavin newsom and his sheep, appropriately flipping him off. haha :) suddenly the cops freaked out and charged towards gay shame members, pinning them to the ground and shit. it was completely unecessary!! no harm was being done. if anyone should have gotten shit from the cops, it should have been one of newsom's followers who started verbally attacking a gay shame demonstrator and was getting all up in her face. i thought he was gonna hit her. the cops totally over-reacted.

i was just curious....

a few hours after the arrests, i talked to some people that said there was going to be a gay shame gathering at 5pm at the UN plaza. i went there and i couldn't find anyone/anything. was there a regathering? was it somewhere else?

i was just wondering. maybe someone can help me out? thanks.

Can't decide whether it should be PFRQ for Parents and Friends of Radical Queers or PFGS for Parents and Friends of Gay Shame, but I think it's time for people who understand Gay Shame's anti-corporate, anti-consumer, anti-Newsome message to step up and support.

Joining the group is DIY. Make your own membership card. Swear yourself in as a member. Make a promise to vote against Newsom. Call the DA about the felony charges. Make some signs. Print some stickers. Show some love. Show up at the conference on Monday.

If you don't like the parade, then have your own. Perhaps you could just march around Ms Mecca while chanting another forgetable phrase. And for your info, I watched the first parade with Jesus Christ Satan carrying the UN flag. I am tired of interlopers coming into MY celebration and trying to fuck it up because they don't like the beer sponsers. Corporate sponsership of the Gay Pride Parade should be seen as a good thing!!!! Twenty years ago no corporation would ever want to be associated with anything that even remotely hinted a homosexualism. Mainstream acceptance means that the message of pride is finally being accepted. One should not try to muddle the message with other causes. Stick with one battle until it is won.
