Despite massive budget shortfalls and poll after poll showing that
Californians want cuts to prison spending and favor rehabilitation over
more prisons, California will open its 33rd state prison on June 1: the
$750 million boondoggle, Delano II. At the same time, we are closing
schools, hospitals and libraries.
Come protest the opening of the Delano II prison and the closing of public
institutions that truly build safe communities.
On June 1 at noon, Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB)
will hold "Reverse Ribbon Cuttings" around the state. Join in the one
closest to you or call 510.444.0484 to organize one in your community.
