CHARGES! - BOYD FAMILY AND COMMUNITY REACT!

(SAN FRANCISCO) B After one year and 7 more officer involved shootings in San Francisco, there has been no accountability by anyone in the shootings or in the murder of Cammerin Boyd, as required by the voters when they approved Proposition H. Nor has there been any exculpatory evidence to support the lack of prosecution of the officers involved in killing Cammerin Boyd on May 5, 2004. Family, Friends, and the Community are outraged at the lack of any real independent investigation and the refusal to prosecute the offending officers. That is why a Federal investigation is necessary and imperative. Cammerin Boyd a young African American man, was physically disabled when he was brazenly gunned down by undercover officers while his hands were raised in the air surrendering. These officers felt nothing about endangering the lives of many small children, shooting into their homes, then lying to justify their wanton conduct. Even though they admit Cammerin Boyd did not have a gun in his hands when they gunned him down they still lied to the public claiming he was shooting at them.

The City and County of San Francisco=s own medical examiner unequivocally states Aone cannot exclude that the hands were raised when the abdominal gunshot wound occurred.@ ASuch a declaration constitutes clear evidence of criminal conduct by the officer who shot Cammerin Boyd@, says the Family.

Despite the Aofficial@ coroner=s report and eyewitness accounts, the District Attorney under pressure from the POA and City officials, chose to side with the SFPD and not press criminal charges against the officers involved.

The SFPD has a pattern and practice of AShoot first. Lie later.@, vilifying the victim and the family, as well as character assassination. The press release by the D.A.=s office shows the D.A., the City, SFPD, and the P.O.A. advocate violating civil rights. No action has been taken to date to remove the officers from duty, or give account for the lack of action by the D.A.’s office.

Reports of witness intimidation and harassment by police of the residents who witnessed the murder still continue one year later after the incident, particularly targeting young African American men. Attempts to silence concerned community members and local residents, specifically in the Western Addition, and witnesses are daunting.
