Drug War Roadshow Comes to the Bay Area
Performances in Oakland and SF to Examine Impact of War on Drugs in Colombia
The Drug War Roadshow will present a show in Oakland on Tuesday, May 23rd. The show examines the human impact of the War on Drugs in Colombia, South America and in the United States. DWR combines classic popular education tools (skits, puppets and humor) with rare on-the-ground digital images that examine the human impacts of US Drug Policy abroad. DWR believes that everyone should have a say in how we approach drug and crime reduction in our communities and our foreign policy. The performance will begin at 7:00pm at the First Congregational Church of Oakland, 2501 Harrison Street (near 19th Street Oakland BART).

The Drug War Roadshow (DWR) will also perform a special show in San Francisco on May 24th. The SF show will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, May 24th at the Women's Building, 3543 18th Street, #8.

The Drug War Roadshow is interactive, educational theatre that explores the Drug War in Colombia (the recipient of over $4 billion in US foreign assistance money since 2000) and the US through digital images, puppets and humor. The puppets represent life situations of real people who are affected by the war on drugs- from Colombian coca farmers to people in the US who have been imprisoned due to nonviolent drug offenses.
