how are you enduring your freedom?

by herr rumsveld
As Americans stuffed themselves silly in anticipation for a day of shopping orgy, US terrorists laughed and joked about killing children. "Hope they like bombs for Thanksgiving," joked one redneck terrorist.

For the record, the terrorist who is decorating the bomb which will kill indiscriminately Taliban and civilian "targets": U.S. Navy ordnanceman AO3 Joe Wolfe of Rock Springs, WY., signs a personal Thanksgiving message to suspected terrorist Osama Bin Laden on a laser guided bomb on the deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt on station in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001.

if you want to say something is for the record then you should have the info as accurate as possible.

point one: a person in full military gear, involved in a full military operation, in which the world recognizes as a military operation is not an act of terrorism! And as such those who are seen in this manner are not terrorist.

point two: those people involved in operations where they are not in full military gear, are not involved in a military operation, especially one which is recognized by the world as such is an act of terrorism. Those who destroyed the world trade towers and the pentagon were involved in an act of terrorism. Non-military targets as prime targets or as only targets. Those people are terrorist.

if one is going to make a statement then one has to recognize simple facts when they are seen.

Joseph,

You assume too much about these posting hateful messages. You see, anybody who commits a hate crime or genocide like Klansmen or Pilgrims is bad, UNLESS they happen to target the American way of life. THEN, these indymedia people support the hate crime and genocide.

In reply to Joseph:

Point One: According to George Bush, if you fund, arm or harbor terrorists, you are a terrorist. According to me, if you commit terror against innocents, you are a terrorist. Either way, the Pentagon is certainly a terrorist organization. I would assume that those who are bombing personnel in the terrorist organization would also be a terrorist.

Point Two: For PR reasons, the US tries to avoid civilian casualties. For military reasons, the US tries to maximize civilian casualites. This is the same dynamic found in any political-military relationship.

Sorry, Joseph. Nothing in life is "simple" as you suggest.

I have always felt that this website serves an important and noble purpose. Unfortunately, made up emotional quotes meant to inflame passions does not help your cause.
by rawlaw (rawlaw [at] onebox.com)
These comments miss the point of the pic - we must remember that it is fun to put messages on bombs - servicemen have been doing it for years - it is military tradition - that is, to make war fun and make soldiers smile so they won't think about the death and destruction that is their day's work.

Our navy guy writes Happy Thanksgiving on a bomb being used to bomb the tribal people of Afghanistan - completely losing the irony that the entire Thanksgiving holiday comes from when the tribal people of America saved the asses of the white ass pilgrims who were dying from starvation and disease -

Namaste :)

This is truly sad. While we break bread and give thanks, the multi-million dollar military industrial complex grows..

I look for a new American dream...

I must admit, I enjoy seeing those of you on the radical left in a state of such desparation that the only ammo left in your quill are meaningless, yet emotively charged photos of bomb graffiti and 'allegged' civilian casualties.

Obviously all rationally-based protests of US policy have faded into oblivion.

It's no wonder your laughing-stock, marginalized anti-movement is about to collapse.
by heh
Actually, the anti-capitalism / anti-imperialism movement is global for the first time in history, and it shows from hundreds of thousands of Koreans marching in solidarity with hundreds of thousands of Argentinians marching in solidarity with hundreds of thousands in quebec and genoa and seattle and LA and san francisco and washington dc and london and buenos aires and lima and greece and colombia and mexico and ... oh.

I will admit that the American left is a pathetic piece of shit who is finally dying off, making way for the American revolutionaries, who do not really identify with right or left politics. just anti-authoritarian politics.

Sorry, Diego. If you want to find out about ideologies whose time has past, see: Militarism. Communism. Capitalism. Fascism.

"Alleged" civilian casualties?

It doesn't take a genius to know that if you drop bombs on people for weeks and weeks, you are going to kill quite a few innocent people.

Some people would say that each life is unique and special, and the intentional murder of even one life is immoral and terrorist. Apparently not many Americans, unless the person is white and born in the United States.

by yawn
"if we wanted to "intentionally" kill afgan civilians then please explain the use of small warheads on bombs and precision guided munitions"

Hey, Jon ... dunno if you've heard this yet ... but warheads and precision-guided munitions *kill innocent people* ... there has been a huge international campaign to stop using cluster bombs ... etc If you blow up targets that may or may not include civilians, you are bound to kill civilians. Everyone knows this, it is no big secret. Except, apparently, to you.
by charlotte (cvallaeys [at] hotmail.com)
since when is terrorism defined by the clothes one wears??? are you saying that if the terrorists on 9-11 had been were wearing a special "Osama uniform", their actions would have been justified?

Sorry, but in my opinion (which i know most americans no longer share), killing people is wrong, regardless of whether it was Hitler, Bush or Osama who commanded it.
§.
by Jon
cluster bombs aren't precision guided munitions.

try again.

and collateral damage, or the accidental killing of civilians, is not INTENATIONALLY killing them.
by fukt
Um, Jon, you do know cluster bombs are also being dropped by the US on Afghanistan?

So, as I said, precision-guided missiles and cluster bombs KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE when you use them. Everyone at the Pentagon knows this. And they continue to drop them. That is called *intentionally killing people* ... period.
by Frodo
Attack on WTC and Pentagon=terrorism
Attack on Afghanistan=terrorism

War is Terrorism.
Does terrorism+terrorism=peace?

Messages on boms are not fun..
(the bomb is "message" enough.right?)

Thanksgiving used to be about sharing
and stuff..Ah shit "thet" are
changing History too.

To Heh and all you other "revolutionaries"<br>
<br>
I do find it interesting that you are calling for revolutions around the world that will empower the "little, oppressed people". However, you cause is rooted in hypocrisy and contradiction. How do you expect to overthrough your local bingo hall, let alone your government without violence, which you automatically equate with terrorism? Oh yeah, I forgot, it isn't terrorism if it is against those that "oppress" your cause. Sounds hypocritical to me, anyone else agree? Face it! You "revolutionaries" are no better than any of the terrorists that have ever existed and are more ignorant and stupid than they because you do not realize it!
by anarchy
There's no hypocrisy about it at all.

Two words: 1) Grammar 2) Spelling

If you choose to ignore this piece of advice, I suggest you memorize the phrase, "Would you like fries with that?"

BTW - you sound like an angry person, I think Prop 215 might apply...
by kristy
whoever said that is messed up. I am an American and proud of it. But I am tired of some American's who are like that, that was only one picture of an innocent child killed, just imagine your own child/friend/wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend being killed(any of those who lost a loved one 9-11 attack) you don't need to kill innocent Iraq people just because they live in the same country that killed many innocent American's or just because they look different. It gives American's a bad name, I am not surprised why some people in other countries think so badly of us, it's because of things like this.
